Location Information

Field Day will be held on a farm in Taylorsville, GA. This is the same location we have used for 4 years. The barn on this property gives us cover from severe weather and provides us with kitchen and washroom facilities as well as an air conditioned break room for refreshing.

We will have a club banner up at the road so you can find the location easily.

This event is open to the public and we encourage visitors.

Address for your GPS:
2481 Highway 113
Taylorsville, GA

If you have the "What Three Words" app you can navigate to:
///downriver.evaded.decor

When approaching from the East you will see a large white building near to the road. Go past that to first turn-around cutoff and make a U-turn to come back to the property.

Read about it in the Patch and in the Cherokee Tribune

Field Day Shirts
This is the shirt we will be going with for Field Day this year. The shirts cost $25. We can add your call sign to the sleeve for an additional $8. If you are interested send Chad an email with your size and whether or not you want your call on the sleeve. You can pay at the June club meeting. Cash please.

What will be doing?

Field Day On-air Event
Making contacts, of course! We will have five (5) HF stations running  different modes ( SSB, Digital, CW) on different bands. Our class will be 5A. We have a goal of 3000 contacts this year.

Workshops
*Intro to DMR - CARS and ARES talk groups
   *Antenna Modeling - using EZNEC
   *Using a nanoVNA

Workshop notes:
If you are participating in the antenna modeling, load the EZNEC software ahead of time and be ready for hands-on.
If you want to learn more about the nanoVNA, you can also bring it as well as a laptop with the nanoVNA Saver software loaded. If you are bringing you own coax to analyze, be sure to have the proper adapters for the SMA on the nano.

Raffle
   *
More chances to win this year. Prizes to be announced at the June Meeting.

Propagation Station
Learning activity about Space Weather as well as keeping our operators informed of any changing conditions with propagation and band openings. Help keep watch for Solar Storms or changes in Propagation. We will be posting the current conditions as they change throughout the weekend.

GOTA Station ( Get On the Air) - New hams, inexperienced hams, and unlicensed  visitors the site. Youth participation is encouraged.

GOTA Station is an opportunity for any newly licensed amateurs, generally inactive licensees, and non-licensed individuals to experience firsthand the excitement of amateur radio by allowing them to get on the air. There must always be a licensed control operator with operating privileges for the frequencies and modes desired present at the control point of the GOTA station any time it is transmitting.
This year Rob Bruderer (W1JKU) and Jay Street (K4QEX) will be the control operators.
