Field Day 2020 ~ June 27-28, 2020 This year will present some new challenges for Field Day. However, that is partly what Ham Radio is all about. We have to adapt to changing situations whether it is propagation, weather, disaster relief, or just a broken antenna. Ham's are adaptable people.
You could decide to just make it a family activity and go to a park and setup.
For Field Day 2020, we hope to see some club members pair off with another Ham in their area and run as class D or class E stations, depending on the power source. It would be good if the experienced operators would pair off with those new to the hobby or less experienced. It can be a great learning activity! [ This is solely of your own discretion and risk. The club is not officially endorsing this as it is an individual decision.]
Here is what the rules say about that: 4.6. (Class D) Home stations: Stations operating from permanent or licensed station locations using commercial power. Class D stations may only count contacts made with Class A, B, C, E and F Field Day stations. 4.7. (Class E) Home stations - Emergency power: Same as Class D, but using emergency power for transmitters and receivers. Class E may work all Field Day stations.
Using emergency power is really the best solution and then you can contact all stations and earn points.
