Antennas
This is a huge topic for Amateur Radio operators. As we find and develop materials we find useful to our members, we will be adding them to this section of the website. We have some antenna expertise in the club that we hope to share through this forum.

WSPR Weak Signal Propagation Reporting
Weak Signal Propagation Reporting (WSPR) is a technique for using very low power beacon transmitters to test antennas and propagation. WSPR implements a protocol designed for probing potential propagation paths with low-power transmissions. Transmissions carry a station's callsign, Maidenhead grid locator, and transmitter power in dBm. The program can decode signals with S/N as low as -28 dB in a 2500 Hz bandwidth. Stations with internet access can automatically upload their reception reports to a central database called WSPRnet, which includes a mapping facility.
Check out the presentation from Tim (KJ4RDF) in 2021, that covers all the basics. This can be found on our Meetings page under Technical Programs.

Echolink
EchoLink® software allows licensed Amateur Radio stations to communicate with one another over the Internet, using streaming-audio technology. Many repeaters, including our club repeater, are equipped to connect to the internet and be used by EchoLink®. Using this capability you can use a portable platform like iPhone or Android to connect to hams all over the world, or just to check in on your local nets on your linked repeater. The software is free at www.echolink.org .
Digital Modes
Digital modes become increasingly popular with ham radio operators. Explore these pages and understand how digital radio works, why it is popular, and how to get involved.

Grounding and Bonding
The net on 11/3/22 had many questions on grounding and bonding. It is a complex topic with many opinions. The suggestion is to view this great presentation by Ward Silver (N0AX). He is the recognized ham radio expert on this topic. Here is the link to it: LINK

Satellites and EME
Some club members are interested in satellites and other communication methods such as moon bounce sometimes called EME, for Earth-Moon-Earth. Want to work a satellite? It may be easier than you think. What about moon bounce? How hard is this to do? How to work a satellite: |

Club Designed Project
How would you like to be part of a project team to design, document, and build a project from scratch?
We have engineering skills in the club capable of doing this. It just needs to be organized. What can you contribute? |
